Mechanical Straddle Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor

Mechanical Straddle Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors (VRCs) from BHS provide a quick, cost-effective solution for moving bulky materials between levels. They’re some of our fastest-moving lifts, with a two-post straddle design that provides seamless integration into most facilities.  

Effortlessly move full pallets, loaded carts, materials, and equipment with 25 feet (7.62 meters) of vertical travel. That’s more than enough for most mezzanines, assembly lines, and multi-story facilities. Like all BHS VRCs, the VRC-MS provides the material-handling benefits of a freight elevator with a much lower cost of ownership. 

Mechanical lift components provide reliable service with low maintenance requirements. They also improve travel time compared to hydraulic models, moving loads between levels at a rate of 28 feet (8.5 meters) per minute. 

Models are available with load capacities of 3,000 pounds (1,361 kilograms) or 6,000 pounds (2,722 kilograms), but all BHS Mechanical VRCs use a two-post straddle design to support large carriage platforms. Choose between four of these platform sizes, ranging from 50 by 50 inches (127 by 127 centimeters) up to 90 by 96 inches (228.6 by 243.84 centimeters). 

Mechanical Straddle VRCs are loaded with safety features. The system prevents access to moving carriages with mechanical interlocks and position sensors. Additional proximity sensors prevent gaps between loading areas and carriages. An emergency cam catch arrests the platform in the event of chain failure — but tension sensors monitor chain integrity, so failure is extremely unlikely in the first place.
