European Warehouse Equipment Regulations
European Union Directives for occupational health and safety require employers to provide equipment to assist with qualifying material handling tasks. While each member state can implement the Directives as they see fit, they are all bound to create local laws that accomplish the goals stated therein. Some member states may exceed the minimum requirements set forth in these rules.
Unlike Directives, standards are set by one of the international European standardization groups. These include the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
The following safety regulations are particularly relevant to warehouses, distribution centers, and other material handling applications. Ergonomic warehouse equipment from BHS Global can help you comply with these rules; applicable products are listed beneath the related Directive or EU standard.
Note that EU Directives define “machinery” as an assembly “fitted with a drive system other than directly applied human or animal effort.” Manual equipment from BHS Global does not meet this definition. All BHS Global products comply with the relevant EU safety standards — even those that aren’t defined as “machinery” under the law.
