Battery Room Safety Regulations in Turkey

Since 2008, the Turkish legislature has taken a systematic approach to occupational safety. A series of laws passed since that year bring Turkish law into harmony with international standards on industrial health.

In particular, the new rules conform to guidelines set out in the European Union Workplace Health and Safety Directive (89/391/EEC), as well as two major conventions from the International Labour Organization: Agreement No. 155, the Occupational Safety and Health Convention, and Agreement No. 161, the Occupational Health Services Convention.

Turkish OSH laws are particularly important for the design of forklift battery rooms, with their unique set of hazards. Here are the Turkish regulations that govern equipment and activities in the battery room, along with products from BHS Global that can help organizations comply with the law:

Turkey has also ratified several major conventions from the International Labour Organization, which bind the legislature to create laws that meet certain thresholds of protection. Several of these ILO Conventions require employers to provide material handling equipment that meets strict safety goals.
