Battery Room Regulations in Spain

In addition to following European Union Directives and International Labour Organization conventions, the Spanish Government regulates the operation of forklift battery rooms through laws that draw on the research of two fundamental governmental bodies: The National Institute of Safety and Hygiene at Work and the Labour Inspectorate, both under the auspices of the Ministry of Employment and Social Security.

The Instituto Nacional de Seguridad e Higiene en el Trabajo

The Instituto Nacional de Seguridad e Higiene en el Trabajo (Spanish National Institute for Safety and Hygiene at Work) also issues guides for best practices when handling forklift batteries. These guides aren’t legally binding except where they overlap with existing regulations, but they represent the highest standard of safety in forklift battery handling:
